In May of 2017, the Voters for the Poland Central School District approved a Capital Project to address the Districts most pressing needs at the K-12 campus.  Construction for this $12 million project, which included the purchase of 9 acers of land along the north property line, began in April of 2019 and was substantially complete in September of 2020.  The project consists of three main components…

Auditorium Renovation

Centered in the original 1936 classroom building was an underutilized gymnatorium.  Too small for physical educational purposes and not an adequate setting for student performances, the old gymnatorium was completely renovated and now houses a state-of-the-art auditorium.  The space has 200 fixed seats at the rear of the auditorium and room for 200 more lose seats on the floor, in front of the stage.  With a high tech AV system and improved acoustics, this Auditorium will be a wonderful home for the District’s music and theater programs.

Gymnasium Addition

On the east side of the school building a new 12,000 sf Gymnasium was constructed with an open and inviting lobby and support spaces.  This gym has seating for over 600 spectators and will act as the new home for all major indoor sporting events for the District.  The concession stand off the lobby will also serve the adjacent, outdoor athletic fields.

New Track and Soccer Field Complex

On the newly acquired property, a full size, six lane track with soccer field was constructed to support the District’s strong soccer program.  With the generous donation from an alumnus, field lighting was installed to allow for evening events, something the District has not been able to host in the past.  In conjunction with the new track and field, the District installed new bleachers, a scoreboard and sound system to support their athletic events.
