The library is designed to be a warm, welcoming and accessible building that has a “Village Municipal Facility” feeling. It is intended to be a community landmark and a source of regional pride. The proposed exterior materials are masonry, maintenance free clapboard siding and asphalt shingle roofing. A clock tower rises above the main entrance and is the building’s focal point. The proposed library features three major spaces organized around a central core of support/supervision facilities. The Reading Room is the main space and has a vaulted ceiling and an expanse of glass with views to the beautiful meadows/farmlands to the South. The Children’s Room has a central story area defined by a rounded window and an adjacent crafts area. The third major space is a multi-purpose, flexible Community Room, which along with the Children’s Room can be accessed by the public when the library is closed.
